How NeoGraft Hair Restoration Is Different from Old School Techniques

Whether you're male or female, in your 20s or your 60s, no one likes to lose their hair. The good news is with the help of NeoGraft® you can reduce thin and balding patches while helping your locks look fuller.

With more than 30 years of experience Dr. Carmelo Plateroti and our highly skilled staff provide state-of-the-art dermatology and aesthetic care at our office in Templeton, California. We employ a combination of Western medicine treatments and the best holistic practices to meet all your needs from acne and eczema to aesthetic procedures like Botox®, platelet-rich plasma, and more. We also offer hair restoration services.

Hair loss

Although it's perfectly normal to lose anywhere from 50-100 strands of hair a day, if large amounts are coming out when you shower or brush your hair, you may be one of the 50 million men and 30 million women suffering from hair loss. The end result can range significantly from light thinning to complete baldness.

Old school hair restoration

Hair loss is nothing new — nor is the seeking of a treatment. In the 1950s a doctor successfully transplanted hair from the back and sides of the head to balding areas where it continued to grow. By the 1960s and 70s, large, round punch grafts of hair were taken from some areas of the head and moved to other places that needed coverage. Over time this technique evolved into a more targeted combination of mini and micrografts using a strip of hair from the back of the head and trimming it into much smaller grafts for transplantation.

NeoGraft

Approved by the FDA, NeoGraft is the current state-of-the-art refinement of these earlier procedures. Using the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method, we are able to remove individual hair follicles in their natural pairings of one to four hairs. Then we can implant them where they are needed most for the best possible outcome.

Benefits

NeoGraft has a number of benefits, including being the least invasive treatment available. Unlike in earlier versions recipients do not have any stitches or staples. As a result, there is no scarring either. In addition, there is little to no discomfort during the procedure.

Recovery and results

Given there are no incisions and little blood loss thanks to the innovative technology involved, recovery is typically quick and easy. Only local anesthetic is used during the procedure, so there is no waking up from anesthesia. Many people are back at work the next day.

Unlike some of the earlier hair restoration treatments, NeoGraft's specificity lets us create an individualized treatment plan and allows you to choose the length of your hair and hairstyle you would like.
