Hair Restoration with NeoGraft: How Does It Work?

woman looking at ball of hair

For patients looking for a more effective way begin hair restoration, NeoGraft®, a new automated hair transplant system, may be the answer. It is a type of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant that is much quicker and more accurate than previous, manual extractions.

What Is FUE?

Follicular Unit Extraction is the new and advanced way of beginning a hair transplant for hair restoration. It is minimally-invasive and non-surgical, which means there are no scars left behind after this procedure. We use the latest technology for FUE that produces natural-looking results and can have you back to work the next day.

The NeoGraft® Procedure

There are four main steps in order to perform a NeoGraft® transplant for hair restoration. They are:

Remove Donor Hair

In this case, you are donating hair to yourself. Hair around the back of your head, which has shown to be genetically programmed to resist testosterone, is removed and prepared for transplanting.

Extract Follicular Units

Each graft to be used in extracted with the exact same consistency and length. It is done this way to increase the take rate and does so considerably.

Prepare the Recipient Areas

Next, a member of our team specifically trained in hair transplants will create the recipient sites. They will need to be crafted in the proper orientation, angle, and direction in order to achieve the results you are looking for. Prior to this, a hair transplant plan that was designed specifically for you will have been made.

Placing the Hair Grafts

Prior to this final step, the hair follicles will have been separated by size. The balding areas of your head will receive the grafts. Each and every graft is implanted individually to give you the best results possible. After this final step, the hair restoration process is complete.

When Will You See Results?

The follicles that are transplanted are still alive and will continue to grow at a normal rate. This grafted hair will naturally last 2-3 weeks before shedding, which is to be expected. After the shedding, the new hair will begin to grow in roughly 3-4 months. It will grow at a normal rate. Although the results are not instant, they are very natural-looking.

Who Is a Good Candidate for NeoGraft®?

A good candidate for this procedure will be in good overall health. You will need to have both moderate hair loss and enough hair to act as donor hair. The more donor hair you have to work with, the fuller your overall results will be.
